“Super 8” or “Super Great” -my fuckin review

Me and Max Fisher got to see a sneak preview of “Super 8” and don’t worry we will not give away anything. I will keep this shit brief. Ok let me first start off by saying I dig J.J. Abrams a lot because he keeps you guessing and keeps shit magical. Ok so the basic premise is a group of kids in 1979 are making a home movie about zombies when they get caught up in a train wreck and something gets out. This film is more about the main group of kids, their friendships with each other and their family dynamics than anything else. Yes, there is mystery, magic and horror but it is really about the kids. Which is a great thing. This movie makes sense to me, because I have been making short films sense I was 10 years old just like the kids in the film, so I feel these mother fuckers. Anyway I don’t want to give anything away, just go see this movie. It is smart, funny, interesting and entertaining. I felt like I could relate to all the kids in this film and they were all likable. These kids were even CURSING!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS that is reality, cursing is reality bitches. If you loved “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial“, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind“, J.J. Abrams films/TV, The Goonies adventures, action, characters you want to be friends with, and some scary scenes then go see this hot ass movie. Anyway I loved it, and I know people do not like hearing the word “Love” and get defensive, and will even sometimes not like a movie because someone else praises it, but fuck you. I will buy this movie on Blu Ray and see it again this Friday with other bitches.

The Trailer:

The Facts:

A. I loved this movie. It is fuckin magical and scary and funny.

B. The played ELO in this movie. Enough said!

C. Stay during the end credits for a special surprise.

D. These kids were fuckin awesome.

E. The composer Michael Giacchino is amazing. One of the top 10 on earth.

F. Here is the Dynamic Duo (Steven Spielberg, and J.J. Abrams), also they were glasses.

G. I love movies set in the late 70’s, the main kid (Joel Courtney) had a “Halloween” movie poster on the wall. AMAZING because that is my favorite movie.

H. I started cursing in the 4th grade and I haven’t looked back since. If there is something on my ass I will say “OH SHIT!” just like those kids.

I. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial is not in this movie.

J. Go see this movie if you love magic and wonder in cinema. If you are a jaded asshole stay the fuck home and feed your pets who do not fucking love you, because you are such a dick.

K. The studio has kept a lot about this movie a secret, and they are now worried that nobody will see it because the trailer doesn’t give away the whole fucking movie. The filmmakers wanted you to be surprised and not know everything before you see the film. I love that they kept it mysterious.Unfortunately I think the public wants to know everything ahead of time and they don’t want mystery or secrets. They want to be fuckin dream smashers. Fuck you dream smashers! Fuck You!

L. The porn version will be called “Super 8 Inches”.

M. Elle Fanning, who plays Alice Dainard in the film, did an awesome job and was very convincing.

N. Joel Courtney, who played Joe Lamb, in the movie was believable and was cool because he knows how to do monster make up.

O. Here is one of the short films I made when I was little. It is a “Halloween” rip off.

P. Here is me standing near J.J. at Comic Con.

Q. OK since we wanted to prove to you that this was not just one person loving this movie here is the other opinion, written by Max Fisher in the yellow.

“Super 8” or “Return on of the lens flare” by Max Fisher

Super 8 is simply J.J. Abrams’ homage to Steven Spielberg, who coincidentally produced it. Curious. That’s not to say that there is anything wrong with that, but if you’re a fan of either you definitely know what you’re getting yourself into. You know there will be tons of lens flares and shaky camera shots. You know that you’ll be crying within the first five minutes because it’ll bring up all your unresolved daddy issues. And most importantly you know that there will be ______ involved. Oh, wait, did I spoil the surprise for you? I’m sorry, have you never seen a Spielberg movie? Were you not a child at one point in your life? I don’t need to spoil anything for you because you know exactly what it’s going to be. Of course I’m talking about ______.

Enough about the ______ already, let’s get to the good stuff. Abrams and Spielberg are both just big kids (probably why they keep bringing up the daddy issues) and they both love that magical feeling of going to the movies and being utterly engrossed in the experience. They don’t care if it’s cheesy, predictable or implausible– it’s about a memorable emotional experience. They can throw dinosaurs or ______ in there and you’ll still be crying like a baby. Super 8 definitely delivers this experience. Abrams can get more genuine emotion out of you with one shot and a music cue than other filmmakers can in a 3 hour-long movie (I’m looking at you Titanic). That’s what makes him a master. He also has a distinct style (read lens flares) which sets him apart from the rest.

So, as if I haven’t made it clear enough, this is a great movie and a perfect summer blockbuster. It’s so refreshing to see an original movie when we’re so used to watching shitty sequels (aka every other movie coming out this summer. Literally) or adaptations of this comic book or that horrible novel or even a Hasboro toy. I’m very hesitant to say too much, especially about the _____, because I want you to also feel the magic of being a kid at the movies again. Go see it, it won’t disappoint. Unless you hate movies with ______ in them.

Let me just note that this doesn’t make up for end of Lost, though. I’m still pissed about that.

R. Max I want a toy of the _______.
