“Selma” or “Go See This Movie And Learn Something Honkey” -my fuckin review

Here is my review for “Selma“. This is the true story about Martin Luther King‘s march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965. King wanted to make sure that the voting rights were equal for all Americans. The movie takes place over a 3 month period and shows all the struggles that King as well as the people of Selma went through just so they could secure the right to vote. It also deals with President Johnson’s involvement and him signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965. A must see and very relevant even today. Okay so I loved this movie. It’s as real as a movie is going to get. David Oyelowo is beyond amazing as Martin Luther King. He should get Oscars. I love that King is shown as real person and not always a hero or a perfect husband. It’s honest and approachable. I love that they showed Martin and Coretta Scott King‘s relationship too, and that it was not perfect. I love that Orpah is in this, and when they hit her you really felt it too. I love how they showed how the Government kept tabs on Martin Luther King to see what he was up to. It was crazy what they knew about him. Even Malcolm X showed up and I had no idea that he was there during this march. This movie really is a must see for all, so that you remember or see where America was at in 1965 and how much things have changed and NOT changed over the years. You may also learn something you didn’t know. So you need to see this movie because you will learn something about humanity, your friends, your family, and even yourself. Go see it and don’t wait for Netflix, see it at the theatre if it’s still out when you read this.

The Trailer:

The Facts:

A. Ava DuVernay was the director, she did an amazing job. Can’t wait to see more from her in the future.

B. Martin Luther King is a better man than me I would be punching mother fuckers. I live down the street from his church and the National Historic site. I literally drive passed it everyday coming from work. I always think about it too. I have even filmed there once. His story is always relevant.

C. David Oyelowo was literally Martin Luther King. He captured everything about him. He should win all the awards.

D. A video about the real Selma. Watch it to see the real images from the march.

E. Oprah Winfrey as Annie Lee Cooper was amazing. I love her in movies and hope she does more and slaps more people in them.

F. The song “Glory” by Common and John Legend played in the end credits. I have met Common a few times and he is real and genuine.

G. Real pictures from 1965 in Selma. They also showed real images of Selma at the end of the film and that was great too.
