“Straight Outta Compton” or “The Streets Are Rough But They Do Have A Great Beat To Dance To” – my fuck review

Here is my review for “Straight Outta Compton“. Okay so first of all I love the music of NWA, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube so going in I was ready to hear all that shit. The movie start off with Eazy-E growing up as drug dealer in Compton and eventually hooking up with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre and MC. Ren in the mid 1980’s. They are tired of living life getting harassed by the police and gang bangers etc and decide to form a rap group called NWA. They are pissed off at how the world is and how they are being treated in it. So they rap about what they know, the streets of Compton in Los Angeles. They blow up and become big time and their manager Paul Giamatti takes advantage of them and eventually the band breaks up causing all kinds of feuds. Dr. Dre moves on to Death Row Records with Shug Knight/Snoog Dogg and Ice Cube moves on to a solo career and making movies. Later they even deal with Eazy-E dying of Aids. This is a 2 and half hour epic fucking tale. They really go through it all. A to Eazy E! You get to see a lot of what they went through and how they got there. So it really was interesting to see these tiny bits and pieces of history that you witnessed on TV growing up put together into a story and why things happened to the group the way they did. I get that a lot of things were left out and possibly even things that would put the band in negative light, but the movie that I saw I loved and enjoyed. It was great to see the how, the where, and the why. The best part really was getting to know who Easy-E was as a person. I feel like over the years we have seen Dr. Dre and Ice Cube so much in movies and TV you feel like you got to know their personalities. Eazy-E was like this tough guy who was always wearing glasses on TV and videos and then died. In this movie he is a person who is funny and real, and not his tough NWA character from the 80’s. I honestly thought they did a good job portraying all of the guys as real people and not super heroes or some shit. Like I said I get shit was left out, but hell I would have left shit out too if it was about my life bitch. Also O’Shea Jackson Jr. who plays Ice Cube literally had the real Ice Cube’s ways down to a “T”.  Okay so if love the jams of NWA, the 8o’s/9o’s, Compton, bio movies, the streets bitch and getting out the ghetto then this is the movie for you. I loved it and enjoyed watching it. Check it out.
